Morgan’s Sword and Shield

I started working on them on the weekend of July 4th, and have found time here and there since then. Morgan and I finally finished them up yesterday.

Morgan's Sword and Shield

All in all, the most expensive part of it was the paint. The wood was scrap wood I had left over from previous projects. Morgan seems to really enjoy them, and is planning on being a Knight for Halloween this year.

The sword is made out of two pieces of wood. One length of fir that I cut and sanded down into the shape of the blade and handle. The crosspiece was a piece of cedar 2×4 I had laying around. The shield is made up of that same fir, and some 1/4 plywood I had. The shield is a bit heavy for him, but he seems not to care too much. Hopefully he will grow into it. The rest of the pictures I took last night can be seen here. I had some pictures of the sword in progress, but I can’t seem to find them.
