If you still think invading Iraq was a good idea…

Read this article over at the Washington Post.

The first sentence of the article:

A team of American and Iraqi epidemiologists estimates that 655,000 more people have died in Iraq since coalition forces arrived in March 2003 than would have died if the invasion had not occurred.

Who in their right mind would consider the untimely death of 655,000 people a good idea? For a little personal perspective, this is more than the population of Portland, Oregon, where I live.

What was Bush’s reaction to that study? “I don’t believe it” and “that methodology is pretty well discredited”. Well I guess Bush knows more about cluster sampling than the experts at MIT and Johns Hopkins. The same methodology is used by the UN to estimate death tolls in most major disasters. Oh wait, Bush doesn’t believe the UN either.
